Admin Guide: Preparing Maps
1. Get the Master File If you have access, save the KML/KMZ file containing your outer boundaries.
2. Create in Google MyMaps Go to Google MyMaps.
Look for the red + Create a New Map button.

Click on Untitled Map and change the map's name.

If you have a KML/KMZ file:
Click Import on the left panel and upload your Master KML file.
This will draw all your territory on the map.

If you don't have a KML/KMZ file:
Carefully draw it using the add a line or shape button which is found by long pressing the draw a line icon under the search bar. Click and move your mouse and click till the last click is in the same place as the first one. You can always adjust it later if you get it wrong.

Tip: Toggle between Map and Satellite view (bottom left) while working. Satellite view is especially helpful for tracing territory boundaries accurately.
3. Organize & Split Territories If you already have territory maps:
Trace them directly into Google MyMaps. Use the Draw a line or shape as described above. Outline each territory onto your digital maps.

If you already know the numbers and names of your territories add them in as you make the individual maps.

If you're creating new sections:
Divide the Territory into individual territories based on your local circumstances. Use the drawing tools to create these sections.

⚠️ Important: While working, be careful not to accidentally click and drag existing polygons—this will move them! If you accidentally move a boundary, use Ctrl+Z (or Cmd+Z on Mac) to undo immediately.

Naming territories:
Click the three dots (⋮) next to the layer name and select Open Data Table.
You'll see a table like this where you can rename each territory:

# name congregation
1 1 Downtown West Westfield
2 2 Riverside Westfield
3 3 North Hills Westfield
4 10 Industrial Park Westfield
The app uses natural sorting, so "1, 2, 10, 20" will display in correct order automatically.
Collaboration Tip: Click the Share button (top right) to invite other administrators to help edit the map. This allows multiple people to work on territory preparation together.
4. Download for App Once finished:
1. Click the three dots (⋮) next to the Map Title (top left).
2. Select Export to KML/KMZ.
3. Choose "Entire Map" and ensure "Keep data up to date" is unchecked.
4. Download the .KMZ file.
5. Load into App Add KMZ Files" button to load the file(s).
6. Sharing With others "Backup Offline Data" to create the ZIP file to share with others.
7. Using Offline "Import Map (ZIP)" to import the map and its boundaries
Be Careful! Do not UNZIP the file you made. It will release 1874 pictures onto your computer!
